I definitely benefitted from this project. Volunteering with AGP gave me the opportunity to experience a different culture that I may not have got to experience otherwise. I was able to see how dental care is provided in a country with limited resources, which provides skills I may use in the future if I work in more remote areas. I feel providing dental care to the villagers improved my clinical skills as it involved providing care in less than ideal situations, and you have to develop skills in resourcefulness and use less ideal materials to produce the best possible result for patients. I was able to develop my skills in extractions as there was limited opportunity to do this at the point I was at in my dental degree. In Nepal I also got to see a variety of conditions that I had not seen before in Australia.
